About the Role

Limelight People are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse with a passion for surgical orthopaedics to join a dynamic team within a well-established private acute hospital in Sydney.
In this role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred care to patients undergoing orthopaedic procedures. You will work across the perioperative pathway, supporting patients pre- and post-surgery, and collaborate closely with surgeons, theatre staff, and allied health professionals to ensure optimal recovery outcomes. This position requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in surgical nursing care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care in line with clinical standards and hospital policies
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative care for orthopaedic patients
  • Assist in perioperative processes, including patient preparation and recovery
  • Monitor and assess patients for post-surgical complications
  • Collaborate with orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Educate patients on recovery, mobility, and rehabilitation plans
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and care plans
  • Ensure adherence to infection control and workplace health and safety standards
  • Support and mentor junior staff and students
  • Participate in continuous professional development and training programs
  • Contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
  • Experience in surgical, orthopaedic, or perioperative nursing
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Additional Requirements

  • Compliance with staff health screening and immunisation policies (including required vaccinations)
  • Commitment to workplace safety, professional conduct, and organisational policies

Desirable

  • Experience in orthopaedic theatre (scrub/scout) or surgical wards
  • Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative or orthopaedic nursing
  • Experience mentoring students or junior staff
  • Involvement in quality improvement or clinical education initiatives
