I am working with a Hospital based in coastal QLD who are in need of an experienced Social worker to come onboard and manage the cancer care ward.
This interesting opportunity offers something different as a Social worker.
As you play a key role in improving the quality of life for patients and their loved ones throughout the cancer journey.
Day to day duties include:
- Emotional support: Helping patients and families cope with the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
- Counseling and therapy: Offering individual or family counseling to address stress, anxiety, grief, or changes in relationships.
- Practical assistance: Assisting with access to resources like transportation, housing, financial aid, and home care.
- Information and education: Explaining medical terms, treatment options, and the healthcare system.
- Care coordination: Working with medical teams to ensure holistic, patient-centered care.
With the role being heavily counselling/therapy focused, the client are looking to bring on someone who has worked with Mental Health for a number of years, ideally within a hospital through QLD Health.
The ideal candidate would be:
- Experienced.
- Have a strong Emotional Resilience
- Empathic.
- Approachable.
- Have a deep understanding of patients’ emotional and psychological pain.
