We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a growing company within the financial services sector on a fulltime business. You will be joining a growing Data Engineering team in designing and implementing high performing data focused products along with building end to end solutions, data pipelines along with building best practice across data platforms.
This role is ideal for someone that has worked within a scale-up organisation and can add their expertise to rapidly growing organisation.
Key responsibilities:
• Design and implement scalable data architectures that integrate seamlessly with product applications, focusing on high-performance API delivery and optimised storage solutions
• Architect and build SQL and Python data pipelines
• Design and implement efficient data models that can support
low-latency data access patterns
• Develop and maintain APIs ensuring high availability and performance
• Build data quality frameworks and implement automated validation processes
• Implement security and governance controls across the data platform
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies that can improve system performance and developer productivity.
To be successful in the role you should possess:
• A deep understanding of distributed systems design and microservices
architecture
• Expertise in data modelling and storage patterns
• Strong knowledge of API design patterns
• Experience with event-driven architectures and real-time data processing
• Thorough understanding of caching strategies and performance optimisation
techniques
• Strong grasp of AWS cloud services (data storage)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices
• Understanding of data security patterns
• Strong expertise in SQL
• Programming skills in Python with a strong software engineering background
• CI/CD experience, Data Warehouse and
Transformation tools (DBT, Databricks)
• Experience building and optimizing data pipelines
• Ability to design and implement efficient APIs for data delivery
• Advanced understanding of data modelling methodologies
• Experience working in product teams that build customer products
• Ability to understand what the business is trying to achieve
The office is based within the CBD and requires 2 days a week in the office to collaborate with the team.
