Senior Mental Health Nurse – Emergency Department
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and qualified Senior Mental Health Nurse to join a progressive and supportive Referral Services team.
In this senior position, you will provide advanced mental health assessments, interventions, consultation, and liaison services within the Emergency Department (ED). You will play a pivotal role in coordinating access to acute inpatient beds, including out-of-area placements when required, ensuring all actions comply with the MH act, including accurate reporting and escalation procedures.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver urgent and intensive mental health care to individuals presenting with complex or co-occurring needs. Collaboration with the ED medical team, Ambulance Victoria, and Victoria Police will be central to your role as you support safe, person-centred outcomes for clients in acute distress.
Position Overview
- Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time (80 hours per fortnight)
- Roster: Monday to Friday, regular shifts, one monthly accrued day off, and two professional development days per month (pro rata)
- Classification: Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 4
- Salary Range: $112,465.60 – $121,113.20 plus super plus salary packaging
What You Bring We are seeking a qualified Mental Health Nurse with:
- Minimum 5 years of mental health experience
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication, clinical leadership, and assessment skills
