About the role
Limelight People are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to join a dynamic operating theatre team in Sydney, specialising in orthopaedic surgery.
In this role, you will work as a Scrub / Scout Nurse supporting a wide range of orthopaedic procedures including joint replacements, trauma cases, and spinal surgery. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre staff to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical outcomes. This position requires strong perioperative experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure theatre environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide scrub and/or scout nursing support for orthopaedic surgical procedures
- Assist with preparation of operating theatres, instruments, and sterile equipment
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection control standards
- Anticipate surgical team needs during orthopaedic procedures
- Support procedures including joint replacements, trauma, and spinal surgery
- Monitor patient safety throughout the perioperative journey
- Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary theatre staff
- Ensure accurate intraoperative documentation and tracking of instruments and implants
- Assist with patient positioning and safe transfer before and after surgery
- Support theatre coordination and workflow efficiency
- Mentor junior staff and students where required
- Contribute to ongoing training, education, and quality improvement initiatives

Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
- Experience in perioperative, scrub/scout, or theatre nursing
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
- Experience or interest in orthopaedic surgery highly regarded
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure surgical environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong attention to detail and patient safety focus

Desirable
- Experience in orthopaedic theatre (joint replacement, trauma, spine)
