Remote Mental Health Nurse
Northern Territory
PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE, CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE, PATIENT CENTRED MENTAL HEALTH CARE TO THE REMOTE COMMUNITY.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work within the Primary Health Care team
- Liaise with a multi-disciplinary team
- Act as a key resource and mentor for the community workers allocated to the Mental Health program
- Work collaboratively with the Top End Mental Health Practitioner
- Providing adult health checks and referrals
- Provide mental health education, promotion and advice
- Develop and maintain strong referral pathways with key external services for clients and families
- Effectively plan the days with GP access
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- $91.00 – $95.00 per hour + super + on call and call outs
- Work autonomously
- Work within scope of practice and under CARPA manual
- Participate in the on-call roster provided by Mala’la Health Service.
- Assist the broader clinic objectives
- Must be culturally sensitive and aware
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be registered with AHPRA
- Current Advanced Life Support
- About Giving Vaccines (or equivalent)
- Current driver’s license
- Satisfactory criminal history check
- Current NT Working with Children Check
- 3 years working in a primary health related field in a remote context
- Understanding of First Nations culture
- Post graduate qualifications or experience in Mental Health
- REC / MEC / Pharmaco (desirable certs)
