The roles we help fill are varied, but the application process is the same. Once you\u2019ve identified a role you\u2019re interested in, submit an up-to-date resume, including two or more current referees. Let us know how soon and for how long you\u2019re available \u2013 minimum contracts are about 4\u20136 weeks but it\u2019s more common that roles are for 3 or more months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Provide your credentials<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Provide evidence of your relevant qualifications, vaccinations (which may be specific to the region) and approvals (which may include separate police record and working with children checks for different states and territories).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make the most of your call with a hiring manager<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re a good match for a role, we\u2019ll coordinate your contact with the relevant manager and arrange a call. This is an important first step in building a working relationship. It\u2019s also a great opportunity to ask questions. Definitely ask about the role, the team, and the workplace (uniform requirements and any equipment you may need to bring). Clarify the details of the contract, its length and whether that could change. Ask about the likely roster and any flexibility there is with it. But also ask more general questions about what to expect from life outside of work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to prepare for your first role<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once your role is confirmed, it\u2019s time to prepare for your trip. There are some important questions to answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are you going it alone or travelling with a partner or friend?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Travelling alone offers many advantages, including more freedom and flexibility \u2013 you get to make all of your own decisions. If you\u2019re travelling with someone else, you might need to spend more time planning to make sure you\u2019ve got everything you both need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How are you travelling?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Are you driving yourself or taking a bus, train or plane? Driving lets you take more things with you and gives you more flexibility while you\u2019re away. Either way, give yourself plenty of time. Make sure you know how long it will take to travel to your destination, especially if it\u2019s in a remote location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where will you stay?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The most convenient accommodation is usually nurses\u2019 quarters if they\u2019re available as a part of the role. You can also look online for other options to suit your needs. Choices may be limited if you\u2019ll be travelling with a pet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How can I get oriented ahead of time?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

From looking at Google Maps before you leave to taking a walk around the location when you arrive, the sooner you get oriented the better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What should you do the night before you start?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Set an alarm. That way you can sleep easy knowing that you\u2019ll be on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expect to learn a lot. Your first day might feel a little like being the new kid at school. But you\u2019ll settle in soon enough.
